NIPOC Scholarship Program

A core value of the NIPOC’s Education and Scholarship (E&S) program is reducing the impact of financial barriers as obstacles to completing a higher education degree.

Mission

To support Iranian students in the United States by providing scholarships that promote academic excellence, financial stability, and equal access to higher education.

Education and Scholarship Functions:

  • Provide scholarships to students based on merit and/or financial need.
  • Support students of all nationalities without discrimination.
  • Encourage academic excellence and leadership development.
  • Raise funds to support scholarships and other educational initiatives.
  • Partner with educational institutions and community organizations to expand scholarship opportunities.

Policy:

The E&S policy is guided by the goal of maintaining affordability based on high academic achievement or exceptional personal talent. Specifically, the E&S aims to maintain affordability for existing undergraduate and graduate students.

Goal:

The E&S’s goal is to ensure that the cost of attending university is met through a combination of the following:

  • A manageable contribution from family resources, based on the family’s financial capacity.
  • A manageable contribution from the student in the form of part-time work.
  • Grant support from a combination of Federal, State, and University sources.
  • A grant from NIPOC UFA for minimizing the need for a student loan.

NIPOC will employ a set of criteria defined in this document for determining UFA eligibility while maintaining sensitivity to extraordinary individual circumstances.

NIPOC E&S will manage, operate, control, and distribute financial aid (one-time or multi-year) to qualified students. E&S will provide a delivery process that is as efficient as possible. Opportunities to simplify and improve delivery will be pursued.

Central to the E&S funding policy is the principle that the parents of undergraduates have the responsibility to pay for educational costs (i.e., fees plus living expenses) to the extent of their capacity. Additionally, funding levels for grants will assume manageable work expectations, reflecting the number of hours per week that students can work while enrolled during the academic year or over the summer without significantly affecting their academic performance. Student loans, as an educational financing tool, will be available to eligible students, but NIPOC will strive to minimize student debt through its E&S offerings.
