Mehregan Organizing Committee of NIPOC (Network of
Iranian American Professionals of Orange County)
presents Mehregan 2008 to be held on October 11 -12,
at the Orange County Fair &
Exposition Center, 88 Fair Drive Costa Mesa, CA
92626.
This two-day outdoor family event, is a showcase of many aspects of Persian culture including art
exhibitions, traditional Tea house, music, folk dances, crafts, ancient sports, live performances, pop
entertainers, movies, children´s activities, exotic food and different provinces of modern Iran. Close to
20,000 people attend Mehregan each year which provides great sponsorship opportunities for the business
community.
Volunteered Based Event
Mehregan is a non-profit event and is created by
Mehregan Organizing Committee a volunteer
based team with members of all age groups
committed to community service. Each year
hundreds of volunteers dedicate their time,
energy and talents to bring Orange County the
Sights, Sounds, and Tastes of Persia.

spirit of Love, Knowledge and Commitment.

Mehregan Artistic Design Competition
The 2008 Mehregan Festival Committee is announcing the 13th Annual Mehregan Festival to be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th at Orange
County Fair & Expo Center in Costa Mesa, California.
This year for the first time, Mehregan is offering an Artistic Design Competition. The Organizing
Committee is looking for a fresh look for the festival entry area, site and the bazaar/marketplace.
Using
the theme of PEACE, we are inviting all university students to enter this design competition as a team.
Artistic teams can each provide up to three different entries.
A $2,000 to $5,000 honorarium will be paid
to the winning team, and due credit will be provided on all printed materials to the team selected.
This year, also for first time we are offering limited number of free display spaces to Visual Arts students to
showcase their art at the festival.
We invite Artistic teams and individual art students to contact Mehregan
at Mehregan@nipoc.org or call 949-851-3993 for an appointment to discuss qualification.
Eligibility:
- Participation is FREE.
- Applicants must contact NIPOC/Mehregan by August 29th to be considered for this competition.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and enrolled in a university or an institution of higher education.
- Maximum of 3 entries per artistic team accepted.
- All artistic design should be represented through sketches using color.
- Design theme must be non-religion and non-political.
- The Review Panel is seeking a quality design that is practical and would appeal to festival
Persian patrons from a cultural point of view.
- If selected, the winning design will become
part of The Mehregan Festival and the festival will hold sole rights to reuse the theme, and reproduce
images for publicity on various items and advertisements.
- Only entries which meet the stated guidelines will be considered.
- Selected Design teams will also be responsible for implementation of their design, and for all festival
decorations.
Deadline:
- Deadline to register as design team is August 20, 2008
- Deadline for all design entries is August 30, 2008

Adjudication:
The winning entry will be selected by a Review Panel appointed by the Festival Artistic Committee. The
Review Panel reserves the right to refuse the submissions which do not meet the eligibility requirements.
Award:
The winning teams will receive:
- Credit for their work in print materials associated with the Mehregan Festival
- Cash award ranging from $2,000 to $5,000
- Special recognition on main stage during the festival
- Free display space to showcase their art at Artist's Village

Mehregan Organizing Committee of NIPOC (Network of Iranian-American Professionals of Orange County) is in the planning process for the 13th Annual Persian Festival of Autumn (Mehregan) scheduled for October 11-12, 2008 at the Orange County Fair & Exposition Center, 88 Fair Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
Mehregan 2008 is dedicated to WORLD PEACE.
The organizing committee encourages participation of all to this event and promotion of event's theme ‘WORLD PEACE”. An Essay Contest about world peace is organized through Orange County School District for high school students. Participants are invited and encouraged to attend as guests of Mehregan Festival.
“Poetry for Peace” will be held both days between the hours 3 pm to 6 pm in English and Persian.
Photo exhibition and display related to importance of peace in today's world will be featured.
We are inviting all interested individuals and organizations to join us as participants, sponsors or volunteers and get involved with this wonderful community event and celebrate teamwork.
