Behnaz was born and raised in Iran. In 1987 she moved to the United States where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with highest distinction from the University of Iowa in Computer Science and French in 1993.

She received a Masters degree from the University of Iowa in French Literature in 1995 during which time she also served as a teaching assistant. She traveled to France as a lecturer and taught interpretation and translation at the University of Poitiers, France during the 1995/1996 academic year.

She received her juris doctorate with distinction from the University of Iowa in 1999 and served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Seventh Judicial District Court of Iowa prior to joining the firm in 2000.

Behnaz is a member of the Judicial Compensation Committee for the State of Iowa and is listed in Kingston's National Registry of Who Is Who. She is Co-Chair of the Iowa Young Lawyers Division Justice for All Golf Ball Committee.

With her language skills in English, Farsi, Azari, French, and Turkish, as well as her familiarity with different cultures, Behnaz possesses strong communication skills and is responsive to her clients. Her position as a judicial clerk has allowed her to experience the judicial process and observe a variety of different litigation matters. Behnaz is an active member of the community and is a 2004 Pro Bono Award Recipient of the Iowa State Bar Association and Polk County Bar Association.
